Here is what Maya Samuels-Stewart had to say about her upcoming fight:

Q- Tell the fans your name?

A-Maya Stewart. You may also see my name appear as “Maya Samuels-Stewart” in honor of my late mother.

Q-Age?

A-26 years old

Q- Record?

A-3-1

Q- Your Home Town?

A-I consider South Florida to be my “hometown.”

Q- What gym do you train with?

A-Kaizen MMA in Falls Church, Virginia

Q-Favorite Training Partner?

A-Son Goku

Q- How long have you been training?

A-I began practicing traditional martial arts in 2011, then transitioned to MMA training in 2014.

Q-BJJ/TKD/Wrestling experience/Belt Level?

A-Before having to leave Florida for the Army, I earned a red belt in Traditional Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo from South Miami Martial Arts, affiliated with the University of Miami. I am technically still a white belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, though I started learning BJJ shortly after Taekwondo.

Q-When did you make your MMA debut?

A-May 27, 2017 (Watch it HERE)

Q- What made you start competing in MMA?

A-As a child, I held an intense desire to practice martial arts, especially after watching Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Donnie Yen movies. My mom didn’t have the money to enroll me in classes, so I would just read about martial arts whenever I went to the library. When I was 16, I remember surfing around Youtube, and I stumbled upon some Anderson Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, Cris Cyborg, and Gina Carano videos. At that moment, I knew I wanted to compete in MMA as a career, and began my pursuit at 17 years old.

Q- How do you feel like you match up with your opponent?

A-My opponent is coming off a seven year hiatus, so I’m not sure what may be in her repertoire now after all those years. I don’t have much to say about how I match up with my opponent, but I know this will be an exciting bout.

Q- How do you predict the fight will end? and in what round?

A-The fight will end in my favor. In Round 1.

Q- Why should fans come out to see you compete at Premier MMA Championship?

A-They should come see me compete so that they can witness the ascent of the future UFC featherweight champion.

Q- If there was one thing you can say to your opponent about your fight, what would that be?

A-Thank you for fighting me. It’s been a struggle securing a fight during this pandemic.

Q- What has been the most memorable moment of your MMA journey?

A-My first (and last) loss, which came in June 2019. It was definitely something I needed to experience. I learned a lot from my substandard performance in that fight, and I’m glad I am able to learn these lessons during my amateur career, rather than as a pro.

Q- What is your favorite MMA moment as a fan?

A-I have multiple favorite moments, but if I had to choose, it would be the moment I logged into my Facebook in 2012 and found out that a women’s division was added to the UFC.

Q- Who is your all-time favorite MMA fighter? and why?

A-Right now, it’s Jiri Prochazka. I can see some similarities in the way that we fight. We’re both pretty reckless.

Q-What are some things you would like people to know about you?

A-Nothing comes to mind.

Q- When you’re not at the gym training what is your favorite hobby to keep yourself busy?

A-I like lifting weights, watching anime, and learning languages.

Q- Outside of MMA what type of job do you have?

A-I’m a Data Analyst.

Q- When you’re in the gym training, or just working out what artist or music gets you in a zone?

A-Trap music. Hard Trap or Dark Trap.

Q-Who is your favorite music group or artist?

A- and Scarlxrd.

Q-What is your favorite movie?

A-I don’t have one.

Q-Who is your favorite actor/actress?

A-I only watch anime. I hardly know actors.

Q-What’s your favorite color?

A-I do not have one. But I don’t like brown and I can do without orange.

Q-What is your “go to” meal after weigh-In’s?

A-I’ll eat anything that’s hearty and high in protein.

Q-What’s your favorite quote?

A-Whoever is willing to abandon their humanity will win.-Armin Arlert (SNK ep. 24)

Q- In closing, the forum is yours, you have the freedom to say whatever you would like.

A-An immense thanks to my coaches and training partners at Kaizen MMA.
