Meet Premier MMA Championship 13 Fighter Yoko Kowaas

Premier MMA Championship is set to take place on Saturday August 17th at the Hits Entertainment Complex in Covington Kentucky presenting a night full of live MMA featuring some of the best up and coming future stars of the sport including current Premier MMA Championship Strawweight Champion Yoko Kowaas making her professional MMA debut as she steps inside the Premier MMA Championship cage to face “Macho Miss” Jenny Savage (Clausius).

Some of the athletes who you will see compete inside the cage on August 17th took a few moments out of their training to give fight fans a
little background on who they are and give you their thoughts on their upcoming fight at Premier MMA Championship.    

Here is what Yoko Kowaas had to say about her upcoming Professional debut fight August 17th at Premier MMA Championship:


Q-Tell the fans your name?

A-Yoko Kowaas

Q-Age?

A-33

Q- Record? My amateur record is 4-2. This will be my professional debut

A- Your Hometown? Cincinnati, Ohio 

Q- What gym do you train with?

A-JKD Unlimited Cincinnati located inside Premier Shooting and Training Center. 

Q-Favorite Training Partner? 

A-I love training with all of them. I could never pick a favorite. 

Q- How long have you been training? 

A-7 years or so…I lost count.  

Q-BJJ/TKD/Wrestling experience/Belt Level?Muay Thai, Kali, Silat, Taekwondo,Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

A-Rank: Jeet Kune Do/MMA FTS level 4a, two stripe blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Battlefield Kali level 1, and Brown belt black stripe in Taekwondo .

Q-When did you make your MMA debut? 

A-I made my amateur debut August 2015. 

Q- What made you start competing in MMA?

 A-I’m a competitor. When I train in anything I give it my all. I’m always looking for the next challenge and I wanted to test my skills. 

Q- How do you feel like you match up with your opponent on August 17th? 

A-This is a great matchup for me. 

Q- How do you predict the fight will end? and in what round? 

 A-I’m prepared for wherever this fight goes and to leave it all in that cage. 

Q- Why should fans come out to see you compete at Premier MMA Championship on August 17th in Covington Kentucky? 

A-Everyone should come out and support your local fighters.

Q- If there was one thing you can say to your opponent about your fight on August 17th, what would that be? 

A-Thank you for taking the fight. 

Q- What has been the most memorable moment of your MMA journey? 

A-Capturing the straw weight title.

Q- What is your favorite MMA moment as a fan?

A-Being cage side watching the fights when the UFC came to Cincinnati for Fight Night 40 Brown vs Silva. 

Q- Who is your all-time favorite MMA fighter? and why? 

A-I have a lot but my top favorites would be Angela Lee and George St. Pierre. I’m inspired by their skills, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves. 

Q- When you’re not at the gym training what is your favorite hobby to keep yourself busy? 

A-I don’t have much time for anything else. When I’m not working or training I spend time with friends, family, and my dogs. 

Q- Outside of MMA what type of job do you have?

A-I work for an industrial software company called Shoptech. 

Q- When you’re in the gym training, or just working out what artist or music gets you in a zone?

A-My workout playlist is pretty diverse. I’ll put just about anything on my playlist but everyone that knows me knows I’m a huge fan of Beyonce and K-pop. 

Q-Who is your favorite music group or artist? 

A-Beyonce, BTS, and Jay Park are some favorites. 

Q-What is your favorite movie? 

A-Predator and Deep Blue Sea

Q-Who is your favorite actor/actress? 

A-Robin Williams and Will Smith 

Q-What’s your favorite color? 

A-Blue

Q-What is your “go to” meal after weigh-In’s?

A-Chicken or Salmon 

Q-What’s your favorite quote?

A=“It’s the space between the notes that makes the music”
