Here is what debut fighter Corey Andres had to say:
Q-What is your full name?
A- My name is Corey Andres.
Q- Age?
A- 28
Q- Current Record?
A- 0-2
Q- HomeTown?
A- Dayton, Ohio
Q- What Gym do you train with?
A- Vision MMA of Dayton Ohio
Q-Favorite Training Partner?
A- My favorite training partners/coaches would have to be Brandon Laino and Joe Miller because I can’t choose between the two. We’ve trained together for nearly 8 years. These guys know me the best and know how to push me no matter what martial art I am drilling or competition I am training for. They’ve always been there for me and I would literally die for these men because they may not be direct blood but they are family. We’ve bled, ached, and hurt each other in the best ways.
Q- How long have you been training?
A- I have been training off and on for about 9 years but consistently with Vision MMA for the past 2 years training anywhere from 4-6 days a week.
Q- BJJ/TKD/Wrestling experience/Belt Level?
A- I can’t say I have a belt to my name but I am actively trained in Brazilian Jiu Jistu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Boxing and just recently Tae Kwon Do. I honestly try to train whatever martial art I can get my hands on.
Q- When did you make your MMA debut?
A- My MMA debut was December 11th, 2010 for OXF 20 Holiday Bash in Dayton, Ohio against Rob Dejene at Dayton Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
Q- What made you start competing in MMA?
A- I started competing in MMA because it’s what I love to do and win or lose I feel I have a calling to it. I will train any type of MMA anywhere the rest of my life.
Q- How do you feel like you match up with your opponent on February 10th?
A- I feel the matchup is great for me and will be a great way to show off some of the new skill sets I’ve acquired. After about a year and half of taking the time to train more and get myself together since my last fight, I know it’ll be a great fight for everyone.
Q- How do you predict the fight will end? and in what round?
A-I predict the fight will end in the first round via rear naked choke but if I see oppurtunity for a knockout or any other submission then it will be taken quickly.
Q- Why should fans come out to see you compete?
A- The fans should come out to see me compete because I’m about to put on a show. If they want to see the true techique and talent then they will show up for this.
Q- If there was one thing you can say to your opponent about your fight on February 10th, what would that be?
A- All I have to say to my opponent is I respect him as I do any other person but once we step into that ring and that bell rings he better be ready because for that possible 9 minutes he is no friend of mine.
Q- What’s your most memorable moment of your MMA career?
A-The most memorable moment in my MMA Career for me isn’t anything specific to achievements or personal goals but more to my amazing teammate and friend Kenny Warrix who passed away nearly two years ago. He left me with great memories though and we have a whole team that he meant that world too.
Q- What is your favorite MMA moment as a fan?
A-My favorite MMA moment as a fan is watching one of my teammates Dom Steele on a live UFC Fight slam KO Dong Hyun Kim.
Q- When you’re not at the gym training what is your favorite hobby to keep yourself busy?
A- To be honest my only other activities outside of MMA is reading my bible and practicing my christian religion daily and teaching and hanigin out with my 6 year old son Adon. MMA is my life and the only hobby I stay in tune with daily. It may sound boring to others but for me it is peace to my life and the kind of life I’ve been waiting to obtain for over a decade.
Q- Outside of MMA what type of job do you have?
A-Outside of MMA for a company called Killer Brownie where I help manage a team to produce and ship out brownies in massive bulk throughout North America.
Q- When you’re in the gym training, or just working out what artist or music gets you in a zone?
A- Any type of music works for me while training but I do feel a rhythm in my sparring or rolling when it comes to hard rock and some old school rap/r&b hip hop.
Q- What is your favorite quote?
A-Favorite Quote: Proverbs 28:2- “When a land transgresses, it has many rulers, but of a man who is wise and understanding, the state thereof shall endure.”
